3pm Temps now 93° at Boston, 97° at Newark, 97° at DC, 96° in Philadelphia, 95° at LaGuardia Still Rising!

As expected, as we progress through the afternoon hours, temperatures continue rising as the hot air continues to build in across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic from the Midwest. With dew points into the low 70s for many, real feel temps are at or above 100°, especially over the Mid-Atlantic where there are heat indexes of 115° in parts of Virginia.

Here are the current readings as of 3pm according to The Weather Channel

The below chart shows forecast lows tonight for the Northeast according to the National Weather Service.

While lows in rural areas dip into the low 70s away from the urban heat island of the cityscape. I expect lows no cooler than 78°-81° for downtown Newark, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, DC both tonight and tomorrow night. This lack of cooling sets a warm base to start off the next two mornings and with ridging strongest overhead, this greatly helps a run at 100° Thursday, Friday afternoons for several locales.
