Temperatures Soar To 80 degrees Across Scotland As Ridge Intensifies Overhead

Today was warm throughout the UK with inland areas widely ranging between 23-26C but Scotland topped the list with these balmy highs from today (below)

It’s all thanks to strong high pressure building from the south and heat flowing west from the Low Countries which have met and is bringing glorious mid-summer-like weather to a part of the world that has been deprived of sun and warmth.

In stark contrast, while folks enjoyed splashing around in the waters of Loch Morlich near Aviemore where temps hit 26.9C, on this day last week, Carrbridge just up the road saw 4 inches of snow and temps struggling to hit 4C with windchills below freezing.

Over the next 72 hours, nights will remain warm till late in the night, slow to cool following the strong warmth of the day in this sub-tropical air mass. Thursday and Friday may top today’s blamy levels simply because of ‘height rises’ in the upper levels, the natural warming of the air mass with warm days and increasingly warmer nights. While 25-27C is possible tomorrow I hold to the idea that while England will likely peak in their temperatures tomorrow at around 29C somewhere either in the South, or Midlands, Friday may reach a peak in this warm spell for Scotland where temperatures may push 28C, considered very warm for any time of year.
