Little Change For Western Europe With Mean Trough Sitting Overhead, Turning Warm Over Russia In Response Though

Unfortunately I’m seeing no change in the pattern over the next 7-10 days over western Europe with the mean trough staying put. This setup, a complete flip to what we saw for weeks in Feb and particularly March will continue to feed low’s into the UK and Ireland bringing reinforcement to a stubborn, unsettled pattern. With the cold pool aloft and the strong April sun warming the lower atmosphere this harnesses an unstable atmosphere over the UK/Ireland. This time of year brings beef to those showers thanks to thermal contrast between low levels and the upper levels of the atmosphere. Torrential, thundery showers packing hail and strong winds looks to be the continued theme for really the forseeable future if I’m being honest with the ECMWF showing the persistency of the western trough which feed those lows coming down from the North Atlantic/Greenland.

Check out the above chart with the below chart, much change? No, yet their one week apart, that sums up what I’m talking about here unfortunately, however this is exactly the type of pattern we want to see for the current drought situation. Read more!
