Atlantic Storm System Takes Aim At Southern Ireland And UK Tonight Through Tomorrow, Set To Linger For Next 3-5 Days
Well we saw the impacts of it’s strong cold front through the overnight hours with strong, gusty winds and heavy rain and now the low will make it’s move and cross southern Ireland tonight and eventually southern England through tomorrow.
Expect persistent, heavy, thundery showers through the rest of today and tonight accompanied by gusty winds which could easily reach gale-force across mainly central and southern parts of Ireland and the south of Britain (Wales, Midlands into southern England).
Strongest winds south of a line from Limerick to Wexford
As the centre pushes over Ireland near Limerick later tonight I expect the strongest winds to be south of a line from Limerick to Wexford where gales will blow possibly bringing some damaging gusts with exposed coasts and higher ground perhaps seeing those gusts reach 70-80 mph. Accompanying these strong winds will be a period of heavy, driving rain which could cause some flooding. Read full details!
