Wet & Windy Monday Sets Scene For Week Of Sun, April Showers & Even Snow

Today is a rather wet and windy one throughout the UK and Ireland with the worst of the weather focused across Ireland across the Irish Sea to the Midlands of England down into the South and espesially Southwest and Wales where upwards of 60-70mm could fall. Further east across the Home Counties and East Anglia, only 10-15mm may total up, good news but a far cry to points further west.
Scotland and Northern Ireland have already transitioned into the sunshine and shower regime as the rain-bearing front sweeps deep into central England.
By evening the biggest rains should have started to make their way across the Channel and North Sea over to the Low Countries and France. This will make for less persistency in the rains and more showers across the board like what we are seeing snow up here across Scotland and Northern Ireland. Cooler air will begin to get drawn down from the north as the low itself moves gradually into southern Norway, this opens that door to chillier air pushing down over the UK from the north and don’t be surprised to see hill snows over the Scottish mountains, even the Southern Uplands and North Peninnes.
Sunshine & Showers Rule The Rest Of This Week But Turning Colder Towards The Weekend
Tuesday through Saturday will be very much the same deal with sunshine and showers fed in by a northerly flow. While it will turn increasingly cold in the mid to upper levels of the atmiosphere but relatively mild at the surface, this supports your classic April showers which pack a punch. Plenty of decent sunshine will be had but where the showers hit, they could be heavy and be accompanied by hail and thunder. Read More!
