Building ridge sends temps shooting towards 16C Thursday but cold air to quickly follow behind, could it snow Christmas Eve?

SEE BELOW: 2 PART VIDEO DISCUSSING MY REASONING BEHIND CHRISTMAS EVE SNOW AND WHY KNOWLEDGE OF PATTERN SHOULD GO BEFORE MODELS

While many scoff at the idea I keep clutching to of snow falling across parts of the UK on Christmas Eve, ironically, not only is the European continuing to push the trough of cold air across the UK-Ireland on Saturday but the BBC and other sources have started to mention ‘snow potential’, hum, oh and I’m not convinced Christmas Day will be particularly warm despite models including the European saying otherwise.

I have no reason to back down now and while I’m not looking for a blockbuster snowstorm by any means, my reasoning behind my persistency is simple.. If it does happen to snow across parts of the UK (hoping Scotland sees a decent and widespread coverage of snow showers away from the coast), this would prove that by reading the pattern, understanding it and not relying on the models for forecasting, it shows skill and certainly pays off and my entire philosophy in forecasting is proven. By reading the past and understanding what’s going on, you can predict, accurately, future weather.

In the above chart for tomorrow (Thursday) you can clearly see the ridge really pumping, it’s gonna be a near warm day in parts of Britain as well as Ireland and nothing normal for this time of year. However, notice the trough digging down behind the ridge. This is nothing new folks, we’ve seen this happen at least twice in just the last 2 weeks where cold is draining off Greenland. Because the pattern remains ‘unblocked’, the wavy pattern flows along west to east as it should aboard a strong Atlantic jet.

So, just look at Saturday (below), what do ya know eh..

Now, just because there’s colder air crossing our shores doesn’t mean snow will fall though right? No exactly, however, we do have another system pushing through, this system will push across the UK and on it’s backside, that cold and trough will sweep through and it’s the backside moisture which makes me believe that snow can fall.. How am I so sure? Well, it yet again goes back to what I’ve been saying… reading the pattern and what it’s produced before…
