Arctic Outbreak will settle into the Plains and Midwest by around December 18-20th on the heels of a Major possibly crippling snowstorm, East Coast to get hammered too
If my winter forecast holds true then from around December 20th onwards, we’re likely to see Arctic air drive south from Canada and fill the Northern Plains into the Midwest, out ahead of this bitterly cold air may come a significant snowstorm, perhaps blizzard.

Significant Pre-Christmas Snowstorm for Midwest/East Coast to be followed by Arctic Outbreak?

In the final days leading up to Christmas or even Christmas Day itself, I expect this Arctic pool to migrate eastwards as a blocking high develops over the N. Atlantic/Greenland. This setup would inhance possible storm activity up the East Coast, so either the last couple of days before or on Christmas itself, I expect a high chance of a major Nor’easter running up the coast with rain at first along the coast inland to the I-95 corridor and then a rapid change to snow which may result in a significant snowstorm from interior to coast. Following this, I believe the brutal cold shivering the Midwest and Ohio Valley is move in and with all the snow on the ground, a bitter New Year could be in store from the Carolinas to Maine.
