16 inches already soak southern Japan

Currently around 180 miles south of the Japanese mainland, Typhoon Roke is moving north-northeast with maximum sustained winds of around 110 mph. In preparation for an expected landfall just west of Tokyo on September 21st at 0600z, evacuations have begun in many coastal and low-lying areas.
