Latest on Southern Plains Heatwave/Drought 2011

THE OFFICIAL MEASURING STATION OF DALLAS (DFW) ONLY TOPPED 97 DEGREES ON THURSDAY, ENDING THE 100-DEGREE STREAK AT 40 STRAIGHT DAYS AND FALLING SHORT OF THE 1980 RECORD WHICH WAS 42 STRAIGHT DAYS

Not all Metroplex sites saw their highs stay below the century mark yesterday afternoon ending their consecutive 100 degree streak

Hensley Aiport, located to the south of Downtown Dallas and within the city limit recorded 101 yesterday. Every day since June 27th has topped 100, the hottest being 111. That means their streak continues and today also should top 100.

Looking back at the 4 Dallas Area Recording Stations over the last 40 days

Sites Included: DFW, Love Field, Hensley Airport, Redbird Airport

Warmest High: 111 @ Love Field, 111 @ Hensley Apt, 111 @ Redbird Apt, 110 @ DFW
Warmest Low: 88 @ Love Field, 88 @ Redbird Apt, 86 @ DFW (3 times) 85 @ Hensley Apt
Coolest High: 100 @ DFW, Love Field, Hensley Apt, 99 @ Redbird Apt

Dallas may have ended their ‘consecutive’ 100-degree stretch but that’s doesn’t mean 100s are over with, not by a long shot

Houstonians no better off either with a 100-degree high today marking the 12th straight day
