Though Dallas Gets Ever Closer to the Record for Consecutive Days of 100+ (currently 36 days, Record 42), Intensity of the heat was worse in 1980 with two highs reaching an all-time 113 degrees and there was a heck of a lot more days in total above one hundred, 69 days to be exact. In order for that number to be matched this time around, 100s would need to continue almost daily into mid-September! As for Houston, though the current stretch of 100s which stands at 6 and possibly 7 today, sounds nasty and it is the second longest such stretch for the month of August, it is a far cry from the 30 consecutive days back in 1980.
