Weather Talk
By Mark Vogan

TROUGH RETURNS TO BOTH EASTERN US AND NW EUROPE/UK
As the intense, truely summerlike heat builds west to east across the Southern Tier of the US.. We are finding changes in our weather here in the UK… The Eastern US is set to cool as a trough dives into the eastern half of the country this week and this will coincide with a trough diving down across Western Europe again also… After a high today which topped the warmest of the past three seventy degeree plus days, we are going to be cooler, cloudier and potentially more thundery tomorrow. After 3 days in the 70s for Scotland and upper 70s to low 80s from Birmingham to London, There should be a more unsettled weather regime this upcoming work week and highs that may sturggle to top 60 by midweek for the Glasgow to Edinburgh corridor and perhaps may struggle to reaching the upper 60s for central and southern Britain. A fairly large, deep trough will drilling down and will dive as far south as northern Spain, taking and edge of summer temperatures now along the Costa Dorada coast.

However, models suggest a return to the ridge by the weekend, at least bringing us back towards 70 here in central Scotland and possibly back towards 80 for the south. I am predicting a ridge to build and be stronger than what we’ve seen so far between June 12-18 with will linger for longer than 3-5 days.

DALLAS TO PALM SPRINGS FRYING PAN

With highs likely warming beyond 110 degrees for the deserts of West Texas and across the low-elevated deserts of Arizona, Nevada and Calif, the pressures are very strong and the stage is set for highs to top 110 in both Phoenix and Las Vegas and possibly 112-114 at Baker, CA and Palm Springs, CA.. Death Valley would not surprise me if it reached it’s first 120-degree high of the season over the next few days.

To find relief, head to the beaches along the West Coast for natural relief from the typical inland blowtorch found at this time of time. A reasonable onshore winds flow should keep beaches from San Diego County to San francisco much much cooler as even inland from San Francisco you’ll find 100 degrees heat in Sacramento. The beaches in the central Calif coast should be in the low to mid-70s, whilst head down into southern California and highs along the beaches should be in the upper 70s to low 80s, still comfortable, especially with a breeze as points mere miles over the coastal mountains should be well into the 90s, perhaps even low 100s.

Vagaries of the Weather
India & Sub-Continental Asia Weather

What cyclone? Where’s the cyclone?At 996 mb,its no longer a cyclone.And where’s the rain?Image of at 12 noon on Saturday.

Heading East, the system is fizzling out fast and rapidly. On entering North India as a low, it will precipitate some rain in the regions of Rajasthan, Punjab and Delhi by tomorrow.

What about the Monsoon? No change in our previous discussions and estimates. A sort of “cooling off” and “Re-Organisation” period is required,as the system will pass as a mini W.D. thru the Northern regions of the Sub-Continent.
