UK Heat ready to push highs between 22-28C from London to Inverness
-Mark Vogan

Though it’s been damp, dreary and dissapointing, don’t fret as temperature WILL surge and sunshine will return. Highs by Thursday and Friday should warm central and even Highland Scotland’s glens into the 20s C (low 70s) and anywhere from Manchester on southwards are likely to warm into the mid-20s with a region from Oxford to central London where I’m personally forecasting the highest temperatures in the UK to be reached where I strongly feel we could see a 28C HIGH… 80 degrees F… I stated last Sunday of low 20s for Scotland and mid to upper 20s for south of England. This was before numbers where as high as they now are in BBC forecasts. See Weather Talk below for more information.

BRITAIN IS CLOUDY BUT HUMID, BECOMING WARMER BY MID WEEK INTO THE WEEKEND… EXCELLENT BBQ WEATHER FROM THURSDAY TO SATURDAY

Though many of us awakened to a dreary, damp, miserable note, you probably wondered, heck I thought it was meant to be getting warmer?

Well, if you notice the air is warmer (trend started yesterday) and growing warmer despite the canopy of heavy cloud that’s covering pretty much all of the UK. We now have a more subtropical air mass in place as the air itself feels warmer and the cloud is adding the “sticky” feel to the air. With a warmer air now in place we still have dense cloud as there is a moisture push as well as heat surging on board upper levels southwest winds which have transported this air from the subtropics. Vast contrast to the northerly flow of Arctic air that brought unusual snows to unusually low levels last week.

High’s today should warm towards the upper 60s to around 70 degrees for much of southern Britain and low 60s anywhere from say Penrith on northwards. This is a warm, sticky day in terms of the warmth and the moisture associated with the heavy, low cloud is adding humidity, if we didn’t have the cloud we would be much much warmer, so temps hitting 70 “under cloud” today for places such as London will be a muggy 70 and reaching this number with cloudy skies shows well this air mass is of a more subtropical origin as the southwest flow is pulling air up from the Azores Islands.

Later this week we should see clearer, sunnier skies, rising both temperatures throughout the UK as well as raising the scale to EXCELLENT for evening BBQ’s throughout the country….

Expected highs the rest of this week.

London and interior South England: should climb into the upper 70s to near 80 by Thursday, Friday and Sat.

Birmingham to Manchester and much of the Midlands and interior of Wales and central England: should climb from around 65-68 today towards the mid-70s for Thurs, Fri, Sat.

Northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland should warm into the low 70s by Thurs, Fri and Sat.

Note: Sea breezes should kick off around all coasts of Britain as there should be a more substantial land heating from midweek on into the week.. Onshore winds should be in the 5-10 mph range with perhaps slightly higher gusts at times. Even patchy fog may not be out of the question for particularly eastern coastal areas where waters are cooler in the North Sea than they are on the Atlantic coast.

SCALE…
65F is 18C, 70F is 21C, 75F is 24C
