Much to the dismay of many college students and families vacationing in Florida this Spring Break, the Sunshine State will not live up to its nickname on Friday. Drenching thunderstorms not only threaten to ruin outdoor plans but could also trigger flooding.
Though showers and thunderstorms will rumble to the north, the heaviest thunderstorms will target central and southern Florida. This includes Daytona Beach, Orlando and Tampa. Friday night is when the drenching thunderstorms will be most numerous in Miami.

The potential exists for 2 to 4 inches of rain to pour down. Flash flooding may inundate low-lying and urban areas, as well as places along small streams.
In addition to heavy rain, a few stronger thunderstorms may also ignite over South Florida. Damaging winds and isolated tornadoes would be the greatest threats.
