Comments by Mark Vogan on the storm

Friday Morning: Some good bands of heavy snow pushing across central PA as well as from Sussex Co, New Jersey, through New York City and across Long Island right now! Boston doesn’t seem to have much snow but that’s likely to change as this system cranks and pushes north…

From Thursday:

It’s hard to fathom a storm worse than what we have already seen this winter whether it be the pre-Christmas Mid-Atlantic monster and the twin blizzards earlier this month but what we are likely to see across the higher ground of interior sections of the Northeast is likely to beat anything seen so far

here’s why…

all eyes are on the Northeast today and over the next 48 to 72 hour period as all the great ingredients are on the playing field and ready to merge to create a snowstorm for the ages from central Pennsylvania to Maine. A storm that’s ready to bring onshore 30-40 foot swells, hurricane force winds and 2-4 inch per hour snowbands which will be accompanied by thundersnow… 40 to 60 inches of snow is likely to fall in the most exposed areas to upslope, where strongest wind and precip bands align. More coming soon!!!

Here are some snow totals from the storm taken during the 12 hour period ending Wed at 9.30pm ET.

Figures courtesy of AccuWeather.com

Morrisonville, N.Y.: 11.0 inches
Moriah, N.Y.: 22.5 inches

South Burlington, Vt.: 14.8 inches

    >I hope Derek hasn't been photographing while driving too? Multi-tasking when driving is dangerous enough without doing it in these winter conditions.
