High 32 degrees (4.24pm) Low 21 degrees (7.33am)
RAIN/SNOW: Late afternoon flurries progress to steadier, accummulating snow by evening.
The coldest start to a morning since January 8th and a day which fails to climb above freezing as Arctic air rather than Atlantic air is in control. After a clear overnight and hard frost, clouds rolled in becoming heavier as the afternoon wore on, snow flakes started to fly around 3.20pm which were associated with a steady band of snow pushing northbound and had brought accummulating snow across the north of England and up into Dumfries and Galloway through mid to late morning and into the afternoon with the arrival of steadier and heavier snow arriving up here around 5pm this evening. Winds take freshen out of the east and now blowing out of the southest. Amounts of 2-4 inches seem a good bet for now.
