>Todays Extremes here at the house
(Sunday, Jan 31st)
High 44 degrees Low 25 degrees
RAIN/SNOW: A couple of isolated flakes from passing patchy clouds during the late evening
Snowcover: Local Coating, none outside town.
We are one of the only places across the region to have a covering of snow. Even just a mile outwith Lennoxtown, there is no snow on the ground and thus we have the ability to cool more at night under the right conditions. This has allowed us to get into the mid to low 20s over the past few nights but despite cold nights, our air mass is Atlantic origin and therefore a light southerly breeze during the day and abundant sunshine, warmed us to 44 degrees. Snow melted where the sun penetrated, but interestingly, it remains unmelted in shaded areas and with a still reasonably low angled sun on the final day of January we still hold on to a decent coating. Tonight we should get down to the mid to even low 20s. This mornings low 20s to upper teens was compremised by overnight cloudiness, holding our temperature at 25 degrees most of the night before rising once again.
