High 32 degrees (9.57pm) Low 20 degrees (1.34am)
RAIN/SNOW: An isolated Flurry
Snowcover: 2″
An overnight which saw partly to mostly cloudy skies which kept temperatures at bay. A day which saw mostly cloudy skies with the odd isolated flurry riding the northeast flow. The wind made it feel a little cooler. Icing problems persistent in towns and in rural areas after the rain a couple of days ago which has turn to dangerous patches and sheets of ice. Stay safe!

    >It's a whole 2 and a bit hours to the new year. The ground has a fresh coating of snow to see us into the near year (Fife wide snow).

    Happy New Year

    >The weather has turned wintry again. The snow showers are adding to the ice pack here in Fife. It's hovering around freezing out there and unlikely to warm any? Looks like we are in for a snow covered new year here in Fife (Kirkcaldy).

    >Travelling from Levenmouth to the city of Embra, I was allowed to see the whole coastal spectrum of the Kingdom. We've hovered at 4 deg C most of the day and the thaw seems to be on throughout, there were occasional wintry showers but they did not contribute to the ice pack.

From memory, surely the last time, Levenmouth experienced snow to these depths was a winter around 1998 to 2000? Can the statisticians help me remember the last time Buckhaven Braes were so sledge-able?

    >Snow showers turned to sleet showers overnight, and an increase in temperature saw a thaw, which has removed the most recently acquired snow cover (as I predicted). Nightfall has brought a reduction in temperature. Shall we see the return of snow cover over night? I will keep you posted on the freeze thaw cycle right here as it occurs in Kirkcaldy. I bet you can't wait to see what happens.

    >I have just returned home after a rock session with the likes of Dishonest D and the twinkles down in Methiltown. I had to battle with blizzard conditions on my drive from Kirkcaldy to Leven. These snow showers, as I discussed in my earlier post, were expected. These have deposited a 5 mm layer of snow. Temperatures are slightly above freezing across the Levenmouth area. The new deposits are welcomed, as this has provided improved grip on the underlying ice. It does have the downside of hiding the dangers beneath. I've heard that temperatures are to recover to 3 – 4 degrees C over the next few days in Fife. This could provide the start of a thaw. I am sceptical at these predictions.
I would much rather see a severe blizzard engulf this country and bring it to its knees. We need a winter shutdown. I guess what we have is as good as it's going to get at the moment. Accordign to reports, there's a band of snow in Wales and England. I imagine this being a sleety affair for low areas, and the snow confined to above 1000 feet. However, I could be mistaken.
