Some interesting and downright crazy stuff.
Meanwhile, a storm thunderstorm complex that moved off the African coast a day ago is showing signs of potential for development as it officially becomes depression 2. Mentions of this storm becoming “Ana” in the next 24 hours have surfaced. This for me is the first true system that I believe has potential to become the first named tropical storm and of course would be ahead of my August 15th deadline for tropical devlopment in the Atlantic, however it’s just 4 days from the 15th. We shall keep close watch on this storm and even if this thing does develop or even become a hurricane which I am still skeptical of because the Tropical Atlantic environment isn’t great right now despite warmer SST’s, still plenty of dry air and some wind shear might stop devlopment in the meantime. This thing is a long way from the Windwards, which would be the closest to this system as it moves west and even further away is the Caribbean islands. Your talking 5-10 days before thing thing would even threaten US shores, so plenty of time to monitor.
It is however essential NOW not later to prepare a plan, like you should have done prior to hurricane season in the event of a system developing and threatening your area. Don’t wait until it’s too late and yes, many of you will be thinking, oh, what the heck, there hasn’t even been a named storm yet and it’s now August 11. There won’t be anything this year. Many in August 1992 likely thought the same before Andrew destroyed South Florida. That storm hit as one of the strongest ever US landfalling hurricanes and it was well into August before it was born and that was the first named storm of that season. Many seemingly “nonseasons” became memorable and devastating. Out of the 6 months of hurricane season, it only takes one and a matter of days to change lives forever and become the worst season of all for you. Think about it.
Thanks for reading.

>No, Jamie. It's a tropical system thats moving west across the tropical atlantic, many thousands of miles from Scotland.
>I hope that this won't be a repeat of the great storm of 1987. Is there any chance this storm could make land in Fife?
